Summary

This position is located in the Fleet and Family Support Center. The FFSP is the Navy's primary agency for the delivery of an array of human services to enhance the stability and self-sufficiency of Individuals and families, resulting in increased operational readiness. All FFSP direct services are provided by the regionally organized installation storefronts. Methods for delivering services include providing information, referral, educational instruction, training, counseling and advocacy.

Qualifications

Knowledge Required by the Position:

1. Professional knowledge of social services work, counseling services, psychosocial principles and theories, and group dynamics of family and individual systems as may have been acquired through earning a baccalaureate degree in counseling, education, psychology or related behavioral sciences.

2. Competency in crisis intervention skills, safety planning and procedures, and civilian and military orders of protection.

3. Knowledge of the dynamics of domestic, interpersonal and family violence to include domestic violence and child abuse.

4. Knowledge of child advocacy to include working with the non-offending parent of an abused child.

5. Intensive practical knowledge of community resources and services, crisis intervention, and how individuals in distress may quickly obtain the types of assistance they need.

6. Knowledge of laws pertaining to family relationships and protection of children and adults not required to have formal training in aspects of law, but must be capable of working and interacting with lawyers, court officials, police, etc. Experience with preparing court testimony and victim impact statements is helpful.

7. Knowledge of military organizations, missions, lifestyles, and situations which can contribute to family stress, problems and crisis situations.

8. Demonstrated ability to interact with diverse individuals during crisis situations, including persons in the medical, legal. and social service communities

9. Ability to express oneself orally and in writing in a professional manner, to deal with diversified groups, individuals and organizations, and to compose written reports and material clearly, concisely and effectively.

10. Valid state's driver's license and physical ability to operate a motor vehicle.


Education

A bachelor's degree in behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. If you are using education to qualify, you must submit a copy of your college transcripts.

Salary is dependent on experience and/or education.

Some positions have special requirements. Selectee may be required to complete a one (1) year probationary period.
