About the Role

FareHarbor (FH) is looking for a Privacy Specialist to work in its Legal team. In this role you will work closely with the Legal Counsel, Privacy and stay connected with a group of dedicated privacy lawyers and other privacy professionals at Booking.com. The successful candidate will work to improve the FareHarbor privacy program and assist the business on a range of questions related to data protection and privacy to ultimately help make the right decisions to comply with all relevant data protection and privacy laws.

This individual will interact directly with FH business stakeholders (e.g. commercial, product, engineering, security, business operations) and the Booking.com relevant privacy teams, and will report into FH’s Legal Counsel, Privacy.

What you’ll do here:

  • Manage privacy related projects, many from the outset to completion/delivery, often involving a high level of business complexity.
  • Create and maintain project documentation in relation to privacy initiatives and projects (overviews, monthly updates, status presentations, etc.).
  • Coordinate action items among business functions, overseeing and tracking progress.
  • Support privacy and data protection client questionnaires.
  • Support embedding privacy notices, templates, advice, guidance and processes with the objective of improving privacy program outcomes.
  • Support Legal Counsel Privacy by assisting in providing data and monitoring workflows for ROPAs, Risk Assessment Questionnaires, DPIAs, DTIAs, and LIAs. 
  • Support in building and maintaining the personal data inventories.
  • Assisting with the handling of personal data requests (from data subjects, for example), ensuring compliance with the relevant laws and regulations by working with other teams to meet regulatory deadlines.
  • Assist Legal Counsel Privacy in supporting the response to possible data incidents and keeping related records. Facilitate related communications within the organization and track remedial/mitigation measures with engineering and product teams.
  • Support FH’s third party privacy risk assessment process, including liaison with a.o. Legal Counsel Privacy for the  establishment of necessary data processing agreements.
  • Supporting privacy training and awareness initiatives to the benefit of FH employees and FH customers.
  • Work with relevant teams to implement available privacy standards and their operational implications.
  • Further assist in the review of data inventories, the monitoring of privacy risks, the handling data subject rights and further ensuring privacy governance and compliance.
  • Partner with business departments to guide them in understanding and meeting privacy process requirements and validating stakeholders' reporting for consistency and accuracy.
  • Work closely with Security colleagues to align on security projects  and common privacy improvement activities

Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree in Law, Data Privacy, in IT or Business or a related field, or equivalent.
  • 3+ years' experience in a corporation in a role involving data protection, privacy compliance and managing privacy projects.
  • Privacy certifications (e.g. CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT) is preferred.
  • Strong Project Management Experience.
  • Hands-on experience and in-depth knowledge of Privacy and risk management & control framework is mandatory.
  • PMP or Agile Project Management or equivalent certification is a plus.
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships (both within a team and with wider stakeholders) Ability to work effectively and influence stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of data protection laws and regulations. 
  • Experience with privacy compliance tools such as OneTrust is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
