Shift5 is seeking a full-time Lead QA Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you’ll help ensure the quality of features built into Shift5’s product suite. You’ll play a critical role in testing, verifying, and providing a high-quality technology stack that:Â
- Serves the user’s digital touch points into the Shift5 product ecosystemÂ
- Composes the middleware that drives the core engine of our solutionsÂ
- Sustains the backend components that source, analyze and enrich the vast amounts of Operation Technology-based data captured by our hardware platformÂ
You’ll operate in a team-based environment with engineers, product managers, program managers, and designers to ship solutions that are of highest quality and meet our customers' needs. QA Engineering will play a key role in delivering features and generating high-impact products that literally save lives. This role resides in our Product Engineering team and reports directly to our Director, Software Engineering.Â
In this role you will be expected to:Â
- Write comprehensive test plans for new and existing features.
- Create regression test suites to ensure ongoing stability.
- Write automated tests against APIs and UIs (driven by Selenium, for example).
- Work with platform engineering to integrate automated testing with our build pipelines.
- Execute manual functional and exploratory tests against the software stack.
- Be highly adaptable and able to learn new technologies quickly.
- Collaborative closely with Software Engineering and other adjacent teams.
We're looking for someone who is/has:Â
Required:
- 8+ Years of experience in software QA and automated test development
- Strong proficiency in creating automated tests against frontend applications and APIs
- Experience leading a team of QA Engineers and instilling best practices
- Experience working with software teams, demonstrating advanced skill in automated and manual testing
- Deep understanding of QA Engineering practices and concepts
- Demonstrated experience with REST API’s, CI/CD, automated UI test tooling (Selenium/Cypress/Playwright), Docker, Linux
- US Citizenship
Nice to have:
- BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent
- Prior experience with CANbus, MIL-STD-1553, SAE J1939, ASCB, ARINC 429
- Active (or ability to hold/obtain a) US Government Top Secret security clearance

QualificationsÂ
Required:Â
- Active US Government TS clearance (and willingness to maintain) or an ability to obtain one.Â
- Ability to efficiently multitask and accommodate change of priorities on demand.
Preferred:Â
- MS in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Cyber Intelligence, or equivalentÂ
- Experience in embedded systems or serial networksÂ
- Strong technical background Â
