As a Staff Network Engineer you will be responsible for the design, management, and troubleshooting of GRAIL’s on prem networking infrastructure. You will have end to end ownership in (design, engineering, implementation, operations escalation, and operations) of our current and newly developing IP networks. You will work with key stakeholders in Security, Security Engineering, and across IT to align on a roadmap of the network infrastructure for scale and security. You will lead the IT implementation towards that roadmap while providing technical leadership to the IT implementation team.

This role will be very much involved in Information Security projects, engaging with stakeholders to understand their requirements and involved in the development, qualification, deployment and support of new systems and capabilities.

This is a hybrid role working from our Menlo Park, CA office Tuesdays and Thursdays. We will also consider candidates in our Durham, NC office.

Responsibilities:

• Network Design and Management:
• Design, deploy, and maintain enterprise networks across on-premises data centers, AWS, and GCP environments.
• Oversee and maintain GRAIL's on-premise networking infrastructure, including Palo Alto Networks firewalls, Meraki, and Juniper devices.
• Implement and manage wireless networking solutions, VPNs, and Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) architectures.
• Optimize and troubleshoot network infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance, and security for critical workloads.




• Security and Compliance:
• Drive Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) adoption and integration into the network infrastructure.
• Configure and manage firewalls to ensure network security and compliance.
• Conduct security audits and implement measures to address vulnerabilities.




• Automation and Innovation:
• Automate network deployment and configuration using Python, Terraform, Ansible, and other Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools.
• Manage and optimize Git repositories in GitHub to maintain configuration and deployment scripts.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate network solutions with security, virtualization, and containerized workloads.
• Support and integrate VMware and Kubernetes environments into the overall network architecture.




• Collaboration and Leadership:
• Work with key stakeholders in Security and IT to align on a roadmap of the network infrastructure for scale and security.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the IT implementation team.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Technical Skills:
• Strong experience with data center networking, wireless networking, and hybrid cloud environments (AWS/GCP).
• Proficiency with Palo Alto Networks firewalls, Meraki, and Juniper devices.
• Hands-on experience with VPNs, ZTNA, SASE frameworks, VMware, and Kubernetes.
• Experience with Python, Terraform, Ansible, and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) practices.
• Familiarity with GitHub for managing and deploying network automation scripts.




• Experience:
• 8+ years in network engineering roles, with a strong focus on hybrid cloud environments and data center networking.
• BS in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or equivalent. Advanced degree preferred.
• Proven track record of implementing secure and scalable network solutions.
• Solid understanding of routing protocols, load balancing, and network performance tuning.

The expected full time annual base pay for this position is $130-163k, Actual base pay will consider skills, experience and location.

Based on the role, colleagues may be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan tied to company and individual performance, or an incentive plan. We also offer a long-term incentive plan to align company and colleague success over time.
