Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Traffic Engineer to be based in Phoenix, AZ .
Summary of Responsibilities:
The Technology/ITS Engineer will be responsible for supporting design and technology related projects that involve ITS systems, Signal Design, Lighting, Signing and Pavement marking, MOT, data management and analysis, and other emerging transportation technology. Additionally, there will be opportunities to work on arterial traffic management systems, transit technology applications, and traffic engineering. Join a team of experienced innovative experts to develop and apply new and emerging technology solutions to transportation.
The position targets those young professionals that has EIT certification and 2+ years of experience. They should have knowledge of MicroStation/AutoCAD and can build upon those skills. They have advanced skills in using excel and word to assist in report writing and traffic analysis tasks.
- Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer
- Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures
- Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests
- Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered.
- Identifies discrepancies in results
- Provides guidance to entry level engineers
- Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision
- Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities
- Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives
- Prepare engineering related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids
- Work on a wide range of projects and tasks and assist with field research, evaluations, data collection, data analysis, graphics, maps and data presentation, and report development
- Assist in agency coordination and emerging technology / ITS planning and design projects. Projects may involve advanced transportation technology, connected and automated vehicle pilots, smart mobility, broadband communications, ITS devices, and other innovative solutions
- Support ITS architecture development, systems engineering analysis, design, construction plan development, specifications, quantities, estimates
- Perform traffic engineering tasks such as traffic impact studies, traffic analysis software and simulation modeling, traffic signal design, traffic signal timing, street light design, air/noise modeling, data analysis, before/after evaluation studies
- Prepare technical reports, provide project meeting support, and perform other duties as required
- Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member
- Develop Presentations to internal and external customers
- Efficiently manage multiple tasks and responsibilities
- Good communication skills and team spirit
- Work in a collaborative fast paced team environment
- Good writing skills for assisting in pursuits and reports writing under the supervision of a professional engineer
Minimum Requirements:
- BA/BS + 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Masters Engineering in Civil / Traffic Engineer
- Interest in emerging technology solutions for transportation
- MS Office suite software
- Good technical report writing skills
- Computer software - VISSIM, Synchro, MicroStation, AutoCAD, GIS
