We are looking for a creative independent and technically skilled Voice and Dialog Engineer who will be instrumental in bringing our stories to life. In this role you will oversee the casting scheduling and direction of voice talent as well as recording editing and mastering audio assets. If you’re highly organized creative and love the magic and playfulness of children’s media then this is the role for you.
Key Responsibilities

Audio Engineering:
-
Dialog Design: Collaborate with sound designers and producers to integrate voice tracks seamlessly with sound effects and music.

Dialog Recording Mastering Compression: Follow established workflows for recording editing mastering and compressing voice-over and dialog files for interactive audio books.

Audio Deliveries: Work efficiently to deliver thousands of high-quality well-mastered files with correct filenames and compression; track down missing files quickly; listen to files in context of the product; deliver revisions and bug fixes (including volume and timing adjustments or alternate takes) in a timely manner.

Maintain Quality of Dialog Files: Ensure the highest audio quality by managing noise reduction EQ compression and other audio processing tasks.

Troubleshooting: Maintain and troubleshoot studio recording equipment proprietary tools and software as needed.

Archiving: Deliver complete archives of 44K and 16K WAV files.

Casting and Talent Direction:
-
Casting: Manage the casting process–preparing audition scripts conducting auditions organizing the options with stakeholders–to match characters with appropriate talent. Identify and recruit voice talent with diverse and engaging voices suitable for children’s audio. Build relationships with voice actors ensuring a positive and collaborative environment during production.

Voice Direction: Direct voice talent during recording sessions: familiarizing with the recording script(s) to prepare for the sessions providing direction and feedback on delivery tone pacing emotion pronunciation and enunciation; identifying selected takes

Collaboration and Project Management:

Work closely with writers producers and sound designers to ensure creative alignment across projects.

Manage timelines and deliverables for voice recording and post-production processes.

Stay updated on industry trends and technologies to continuously improve production quality.
Must-haves
-
3-5 years of experience in audio production with a focus on voice recording and dialogue editing.

Demonstrated experience casting and directing voice talent preferably for children’s media or audiobooks.

Proficiency in audio editing software such as Adobe Audition or Protools.

Strong understanding of storytelling and character development through voice.

Excellent organizational skills. Ability to track multiple projects simultaneously castings sessions and deliveries of thousands of files.

Excellent communication skills with an ability to coordinate efficiently with multiple producers other audio team members and other team members.
Nice-to-haves
-
Background in children’s entertainment education media production or audio-intensive consumer products or toys.

Familiarity with sound design techniques and music integration for audiobooks.
$60 - $70 an hour
This role is scoped to be a contract position with a target range of $60-70/hr +/- depending on experience.
