Target Merchandising is evolving at an incredible pace. We are constantly re -imagining how this $100+ billion retailer offers the innovative, guest-inspiring items that Target is known and loved for. Our goal is to deliver exceptional value, quality and style to elevate Target as the premier retailer in a competitive global marketplace. Through intelligent and progressive business strategies that make the most of Target's resources and partnerships worldwide, merchandising works across product categories to create a localized shopping experience online and in our 1800 stores. Are you a creative problem solver who loves to see your work translate into real results? Can you collaborate effectively, execute a plan efficiently and positively influence how Target chooses and presents the right product in the right place at the right price? If so, you will have success on one of our dynamic teams.
A role in Planning means being the COO or (the integrator) of your respective 'roundtable' team bringing driving and implementing financial strategies both from and pre-season and in-season perspective for one of Target's businesses. Here, you'll interact with a Sr. Director of Planning, DMM, Finance, Marketing, Inventory Mgt. & Sourcing to name a few. Additionally, you will be leading your direct reports in training, development and strategic and financial planning. You will conduct comparative analysis of business performance and provide the insights that inform the Inventory team's work to ensure that product supports projected sales. You will have a voice in some of the most important decisions from a financial strategy stand -point. In this role, you will be the primary Principal in leading the coordination of the transformation of both our financial metrics and business management/forecast processes for the Planning Organization.
As a Director in Planning, you will drive informed perspective/recommendations on critical business decisions for large sized businesses; in collaboration with Cross Functional Team (CFT) team members. You will develop a consolidated view of the in-season recommendations put forward by departments, and drive go-forward decision making. You will translate pyramid and divisional financials into merchandise targets such as assortment (breadth and depth), across departments and drive consensus among Planners. You will set direction to provide guidance on forecast creation, roll up and reconciliation for both sales, margin, and inventory productivity. You will cultivate an environment where the Planning team is encouraged to drive insights and recommendations (vs. just providing data) and have the confidence to defend what is right for the business. You will provide hands-on apprenticeship to Planners and Inventory Managers and support cross-functional exposure to ensure a planning skill set is built. You will maintain financial accountability for the assortment, in partnership with Merchandising Divisional. You will provide policies for assortment strategy in terms of breadth and depth, and ensure resulting assortment plan fits with operational and financial considerations. You will leverage key partnerships, both internal and external, to ensure well informed financial plans.
