Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Traffic/ITS Engineer to be based in Phoenix, AZ .
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Work as part of a team and independently in evaluating and applying Traffic Engineering principles, standards, and criteria
- Interact directly with clients at project meetings and ensure that all client project designs meet engineering standards
- Interact directly with other disciplines such as roadway, drainage, structures, geotech, water, and environment to coordinate design
- Adhere to project schedules and budgets and keep project PM/Discipline Lead aware of any issues
- Lead the development of Plans, Specifications, and Estimates (PS&E) packages based upon agency
- standards and specifications for traffic signal and pedestrian crossing control system design, ITS, roadway lighting, Signing and Pavement Marking, and MOT design.
- Perform traffic operational analysis including traffic projections, analysis, and simulation using Synchro/SimTraffic, HCS, and VISSIM
- Analyze crash data to identify crash patterns and probable causes, develop collision and condition diagrams. conduct predictive safety analysis.
- Perform photometric analysis using AGi32 and Visual lighting
- Participate in transportation planning assignments, corridor studies, safety studies, and IAJR reports
- Prepare technical memorandums and papers for clients and/or internal distribution
- Conduct field reviews
- Represent AECOM at conferences and professional organizations
- Mentor entry level engineers
Minimum Requirements
- BA/BS + 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- P.E. License (preferably in AZ) or able to obtain within 6 months
- Master's degree in related engineering discipline
- Five years of related experience or Demonstrated Equivalency of experience and/or education
- Experienced in MicroStation and AutoCAD design and drafting
- Experience in traffic operational analysis including traffic projections, analysis, and simulation using Synchro/ SimTraffic, HCS, and VISSIM
- Knowledge of safety analysis using HSM
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
