Summary
This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Science and Technology Directorate (S&T).
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the lead economic evaluation advisor for the Office of SAFETY Act Implementation (OSAI) to ensure economic review considerations are factored in business process reengineering, data management activities, and in the development of the new IT system of record.

Basic Requirements
A. Degree: economics, that included at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting, or calculus.
OR
B. Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in economics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
Specialized Experience:
You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal government, performing duties such as:
1) Identifying risk models to understand the economic impact of various threats and the effectiveness of different technologies in mitigating those threats; 2) Leading efforts to innovate and improve the analytical and forecasting tools used within the program; 3) Recommending financial viability of proposed policy changes, considering potential costs, benefits, and the impact on public and private stakeholders.
You qualify for the GS-15 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal government, performing duties such as:
1) Planning and carrying out projects for collecting detailed economic data; 2) Conducting independent economic research in support of analysis projects such as potential economic costs, benefits, and risk reduction outcomes associated with applicant products or services; 3) Applying quantitative models to assess how each application might impact national security and private sector risk management; 4) Leading the development of new policies and updates to existing policies by providing insights into the economic implications of different regulatory options.
Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level.
