You are applying for a position within Site Reliability Organization (SRE) in PayPal. This team of SRE's is passionately focused on ensuring the best PayPal customer experience, by helping teams with increased reliability and availability, while simultaneously reducing the number of failed customer interactions.

Job Description:

Roles and Responsibilities:

PayPal eSRE is a continuous engineering discipline that effectively combines software development and systems engineering to build and run scalable, distributed, fault-tolerant systems. 

eSRE ensure that PayPal’s internal and external services have reliability and uptime appropriate to users' needs. 

We also ensure continuous improvements, while keeping an ever-watchful eye, preferably automated, on capacity and performance.

PayPal SRE is an implementation of the Devops mindset which strives to use software engineering to build and run better production systems. You will write software to optimize day to day work through better automation, monitoring, alerting, testing and deployment.

Blameless post mortem analysis of live issues and ensuring the learnings address the root case pattern permanently is also a topic very close to our heart.

We work with functional teams to understand their pain points and 

build infrastructure automation to reduce toil build related monitoring and alerting tools build efficiencies to reduce time to market, reduce mean time to detect and mean time to resolve optimize their production environments triage and trouble shoot live issues help identify logging issues and bad instrumentation drive to align with PayPal’s best-in-class infra

Requirements:

You have the desire to take PayPal to the next level.  BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field involving coding (e.g., physics or mathematics), or equivalent practical experience. Minimum of 2 years’ hands on experience in Node, Java and Python.  Expertise in modern database (SQL or NO SQL) interactions and concepts.  Strong understanding and working knowledge of networking principles: Devops operation and maintenance.  Expertise using Linux command line Experience with algorithms, data structures, complexity analysis and software design. Strong debugging and problem-solving skills Self-starter with excellent communication skills – This is important. Established record working in fast paced changing environment, large scale applications across the stack
