Summary This position is part of the Department of Energy's Office of Policy, Office of Energy Jobs (OP-50). As an Economist, you will lead research and analysis and engage in workforce development in order to perform quality work products that will lead to affordable and reliable energy systems. This position is included in a Bargaining Unit. Occasional travel maybe required. Qualifications BASIC REQUIREMENT: Basic Requirement for Economist: Transcripts must be provided. A. Degree in Economics, that included at least 21 semester hours in Economics, and 3 semester hours in Statistics, Accounting, or Calculus. B. Combination of education and experience that included courses equivalent to a major in Economics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. TRANSCRIPTS AND DOCUMENTATION OF EXPERIENCE REQUIRED SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-14 in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as meeting ALL of the following: Identifying energy industry challenges and opportunities related to private sector workforce needs as well as worker and training needs. Conducting economic modeling related to energy jobs data, labor economics and research in the manufacturing and/or construction industries. Managing research and analysis funding projects to summarize and communicate complex data. Engaging with diverse stakeholders including energy-related labor unions, energy sector workforce, labs, government and private sector. "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Education This vacancy has a positive education requirement. In order to be rated as qualified, you must provide copies of your college transcripts. Failure to provide copies of your college transcripts may result in a rating of "Ineligible". Education must be obtained from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
